WARNER INDEPENDENT PICTURES MAKES FIRST ACQUISITION WITH JOHN CURRAN'S
WE DONT LIVE HERE ANYMORE

January 21, 2004 -- Park City, UTAH -- Warner Independent Pictures made its first feature film acquisition today, purchasing all rights in North America and the UK to We Dont Live Here Anymore, starring Mark Ruffalo, Laura Dern, Peter Krause and Naomi Watts. The film is directed by John Curran (Praise) from a screenplay by Larry Gross, based on two short stories by Andre Dubus II.

The film tells the story of two couples in a New England college town whose lives become inextricably intertwined and turned upside-down in a tide of passion, suspicion, humor, anger and stunning revelations. Warner Independent Pictures plans to release the film in the second half of 2004.

We Dont Live Here Anymore is produced by Harvey Kahn, Naomi Watts, and Jonas Goodman, and executive produced by Ruth Epstein, Mark Ruffalo and Larry Gross.

We Dont Live Here Anymore is everything we could have hoped for as our first acquisition at Warner Independent: brilliant direction, extraordinary acting from a phenomenal cast, and a profoundly engaging and resonant story from the talented writer whose work also served as the basis for In the Bedroom, said Mark Gill, President, Warner Independent Pictures.

We are really pleased to be the first film to be acquired by Warner Independent. They have been enthusiastic about the film since I first signed on to direct. Their passion was clear after the first screening, and is evident in their plans for its release, said John Curran.

Warner Independent Pictures, founded in August 2003, finances, produces, acquires and will theatrically distribute up to 10 feature films per year largely budgeted under $20 million. It is a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company based on the Studio lot in Burbank.

In 2004, Warner Independent Pictures will release Richard Linklaters Before Sunset which reunites Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy; first-time director Gregory Jacobs Criminal starring John C. Reilly, Diego Luna and Maggie Gyllenhaal; Michael Mayers A Home at the End of the World with Colin Farrell, Robin Wright Penn, Dallas Roberts and Sissy Spacek; first-time director Jordan Roberts Around the Bend starring Michael Caine, Christopher Walken and Josh Lucas; and Jean-Pierre Jeunets A Very Long Engagement, which is currently in production.
