The story has been repeated hundreds of times by professionals, publicists and journalists in recent days. And we've been unable to get an official denial from the studio. But here it goes...

58-year-old Chairman of Paramount Pictures' Motion Picture Group Sherry Lansing will step down from her post some time in the next two weeks.

There are journalists that have theorized that Lansing is being pushed out of her position, but MCN sources are saying that no such thing is true. Lansing has been expected to move on for years now and apparently will be giving up the film business to indulge her interest in politics.

No one has been bold enough to suggest that she will take on Ahnuld as a democratic candidate for Governor of California, but who knows?

Lansing has served as the top dog at Paramount Pictures since 1990.
