    Hadn’t heard that Tambor and Giamatti were in this. Makes it a little more interesting but the trailer hits almost all the same beats as the original and the addition of Ken Jeong from bit part to supporting role doesn’t bode well.

    i don’t know why, but i’m a bit surprised it appears to have the exact same plot as the original (and a monkey seems a step down from a tiger, tho monkeys can poop on you for more ‘laughs’ i suppose), seems they could have at least come up with a bit of a darker, more twisted scenario as a topper…

    and maybe it’s just me but i wish titles didn’t have to be so boring and predictable nowadays, anything but ‘the hangover part II’ (‘the hangover from hell’, ‘oh my aching head!’, ‘jungle hangover’, get silly for a change, anything but the ushe)

    I am sort of shocked that they are basically remaking the first one in Thailand. I am also shocked that they are giving away Tyson’s cameo as well.

    Thailand instead of Vegas means the snatch won’t be as hot.

    Looks funny (if note-for-note IDENTICAL)… but Mel Gibson would put this trailer over the top.

    Is it just me or is there a story to this trailer? Just how does a monkey giving a blow job joke make it into a green band trailer? What do they have on the MPAA, and are they sharing the dirt with other naughty filmmakers?

    After recently suffering through the excruciatingly awful Due Date, I’ve had enough of Zach Galifianakis for at least 10 years.

    Paul we are poles apart on Due Date which I was very impressed with (maybe it was going in with low expectations), but I loved Downey and how unlikeable he was willing to be in the role. I get having an aversion to Galifianakis, who seems to be only able to do this same performance over and over (except for Kind of a Funny Story which was unimpressive in every category other that Roberts). I know all comedians on the rise have a persona they stick to but at least mix it up a little from role to role, at this point Galif is showing less range than Danny Devito.

    Galifianakis is like fingernails on a chalkboard in Due Date, which is a painful experience for 95 minutes. I didn’t find one single thing about his character believable. Everything about that guy felt forced. Yes Downey’s character is unlikeable, but the movie is never actually funny. I felt like they were trying way too hard. Chuckled a few times but that’s about it. Really hated it.

    Is this the point where I am supposed to tell you that not liking this movie that I enjoyed is a personal attack on my character, that you are a complete jerk, and that if you did not adore Due Date than you just don’t get IT?

    and speaking of Christmas releases I finally saw Love and Other Drugs and was amazed that it did so poorly at the box office. By the numbers romantic comedy with some sadness underneath, a real reason why the relationship might not work other than the normal idiocy that comes along in films, and a healthy amount of nudity by two very good looking people. I am shocked that the general moviegoing audience had the same amount of enthusiam for this movie as they did When in Rome and The Back-Up Plan. Now its a bit hypocritical for me to complain since I didn’t see it in theaters either but I am not exactly the theater going audience. Of the people that do make it out to the movies, for more of them to chose Burlesque over LAOD is unfathomable.

    Why do you think more people, especially females, didn’t flock to Love & Other Drugs? Poor release date? Bad marketing?

    Drugs was in a crowded field and the R rating did it no favors (though I would not have had it any other way, there is way too little nudity on screens today). But what was the older audience seeing? Unstoppable would have appealed to the same group but didn’t do gangbuster business, Morning Glory was anemic as well, Black Swan was getting all the word of mouth but wasn’t doing enough business at this time to completly suck the air out of the room when it came to other movies. No clue why it wasn’t bigger.

    Now I would say release date hurt Morning Glory. Given the cross generational appeal of the cast, the subject matter being professional first and relationship as the B story, I thought that should have opened closer to Christmas when people are going with families to see movies and need to pick something that might appeal to everyone(families being adult children, parents, maybe a teen or stray aunt or two). Every year there seems to be some suprise release that gets this audience ala Bucket List. Maybe Glory was scared off by Fockers.

    In the case of Love & Other Drugs and Morning Glory, is it possible that poor reviews played a factor? I know, critics don’t matter and reviews have nothing to do with opening weekend, it’s all about the marketing. But older viewers tend to not rush out opening weekend and pay closer attention to critical reception. MG (54% at RT) and L&OD (48%) didn’t receive particularly strong reviews. I wonder if that played a small role as well, in addition to the other factors mentioned (which I agree with).

    I agree that critics don’t make or break a wide studio release but you are right that they are still a factor with older audiences which would have been crucial to both of those movies successes. I had no idea they were ranked so low on RT. Neither were top ten list films but I wouldn’t have felt depressed plunking down cash seeing either one in the theaters.

    Though I am in the same situation as yourself with the three year old, managed to see a total of two movies in the actual theater last year (Inception and Grit), and with baby part duex having a release date in the next two weeks this summer looks like a total wash as well.

    The nudity would be reason enough, but it is a well made movie. Perhaps in the marketing if they had shown there was a conflict between the two, perhaps a snippet of the scene where the guy says “pack your bags” it would have shown people that it was more than pretty people humping and drawn a larger crowd.

    Wouldn’t it make more sense if the last month of pregnancy wasn’t so hard, so there would be some downtime before the round-the-clock first 6 weeks?

    Thanks for all the good vibes, luckily this round of pregnancy was easier on the wife, even with already having a little one around this time. Now as long as labor isn’t 52 hours again we will be greatful. One week to go, bags are packed, nursery is done, reread the books now just watching the clock.

    I wish I had a cool daughter.

    I’d be the WORST dad to a son, since I don’t do any sports and I don’t wanna watch some stupid kid’s games. Also it would SUCK to watch your son grow up and date hot chicks and make money and be successful. I GENUINELY don’t understand this thing where parents are proud of their kids. If my kid became a success, I’d be jealous and bitter.

    My parents always rooted for me to do OKAY but not THAT GOOD. Who wants to be usurped by their children?
