Just For The Record…
I seem to have, somehow, set off a reaction around some parts of town with my “I Broke A Sweat Today” entry of a few days ago.
MCN is going fine, thanks. I don

Wo RT @cigsandredvines: EXCLUSIVE: Sean Penn In Talks For ‘Inherent Vice' http://t.co/K2IaRyuyCa
RT @cmasonwells: Few phrases more threatening than "live jazz tonight."
RT @cigsandredvines: Saturday 10:45pm EST. Is anybody actually online for the #InherentVice casting news I've been chasing down all evening…
DP: @TedHope 2 studio heads have been fired over blockbuster trouble in last 4 years. 2 more fired for other reasons. Not new phenomenon
DP: @TedHope You know, Ted, congrats on getting more mentions, but the piece you keep linking is years late and often misleading.
“One of the things I wish I could do in my life would be to watch this film through somebody else’s eyes. I just can’t. I still see it as just a giant mess, and other people are seeing that it has a shape. That’s really exciting, because I still have a hard time seeing it clearly.”
~ Sarah Polley’s Greatest Wish About Stories We Tell
“Anyway, Hitchcock eventually saw a rough cut of High Anxiety. He enjoyed it. But he said nothing after it. He just left. I [thought he] wasn’t happy. The next day, about 11 o’clock in the morning, I get this enormous, beautiful case of Chateau Haut-Brion 1961. That was almost 20 years old [at the time]. I mean, it was priceless. And there were magnums six of them, in a wooden case. Haut-Brion. I mean, oh my God. I’ve still got three of them left waiting. I keep all the good wines.”
What kind of occasion is worthy? When will you know it’s time to go into number four?
“A real, real occasion. I won’t drink it just because it’s a family occasion. I’ll drink it with guys that know what a good wine is and care about, you know, exquisite wines. I have a couple of friends that know what a good wine is.”
~ Mel Brooks, Foodie

“There are challenges in being a survivor. And if there is any real discomfort here, it’s survivor’s guilt.”
Spoken like a true lib. :p Feeling compassion for other worthy outfits that have gone under is admirable, but “guilt”? Do you feel personally responsible for pushing other outfits out of the marketplace?
I think you should focus on the fact that you’re filling a niche, providing employment, while plying a trade you’re passionate about. If you’re still feeling guilty, avoid taking any deductions on your returns, pay extra taxes, and let Obama spread the love.
If you guys feel you have too much money, you could always go into TV production, starting with the lunch with Dave and a critics show.
You could also finance something so Lex can get his WGA and SAG cards.
From the very first time I heard about you and your website, 2003, (Mike Binder telling some exec about your review of Upside of Anger) MCN and Hot Button (at the time) were the first sites I checked each morning. Here’s to many more years dude.
Mystery, surely you’ve heard of ‘survivor guilt’?
Mystery, surely you’ve heard of ‘survivor guilt’?
Ya. Its not what popped into my head when I read the post. If he would typed “Survivor Guilt” instead of “survivor’s guilt”, it would have clicked.
“Survivor guilt” is what I feel when I turn on CBS every Thursday at 8:00!
Could be guilt is an abstract concept to guys like mystery.
