“The true punk film of the festival.”
~ Romain Blondeau On Claire Denis’ Les Saluds in Les Inrocks
“It’s also defined commercially by the difference between a colorful, Hawaii-set comedy starring George Clooney and a black-and-white, prairie-based old-age odyssey featuring a straggly and unkempt Bruce Dern. All the same, Paramount Vantage should be able to ride accolades for this very fine Cannes competition entry to respectable specialized returns in fall release.”
~ McCarthy On Nebraska

Gross. Depressing.
Is the fact that it’s Brazilian the reason why the art is so much sketchier and less photo-real than the other movies’ posters?
The American poster is actually much better. People are more creeped out by unnecessary dental work than by random severings.
so…uh is SAW III supposed to be about the vicious murders of muppets? cuz that sure looks like the arm-missing dude has 3 fingers and a thumb. Check it. Remember Ernie and Bert only had three fingers and a thumb…and I think so did the Amazing Mumford, Swedish Chef and Animal (my personal favorite).
So, if that’s supposed to be a human arm the artist needs to go back to Medical Illustration 101. I took it. That’s a left arm without evidence of gangrene.
I thought the Swedish Chef was equipped with two normal human 5-fingered hands.
smart ass
you are right Jeff–Swedish Chef was conceived POST original muppet design according to a bigger Sesame Street fan than I. The count has three fingas and a thumb
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Count_von_Count
and Swedish Chef has five digits.
I give that poster one digit. The middle one.
oddly enough Floyd (I think) has 4 digits total and Dr Teeth has 5.
Or Mr Wrectum you could also give the design a Thumbs Down.
It shore do look like it needs one!
Dr. Teeth’s hands are gloved human hands, so that he can play piano.
Actually the W of the SAW is most intriguing in this context.
It could be that the ingenious filmmakers are going to force muppets to kill each other with hairpicks or carpet combs.
Goodness me, dull weapons can be painful! Nice one guys!
[actually if it is muppets with hairpicks I will be first in line to see it]
At the risk of sounding more Old Fogey-ish than usual: This looks truly disgusting. It makes me even happier that I managed to miss “Saw” and “Saw II” (even though, I must admit, some folks I respect have expressed admiration for one or both).
The ‘teeth’ poster is a lot more disturbing. This one is plain, bad art. As many have said, it doesn’t even look real.
I personally have had enough with this series. When will they stop making another one? Must they beat the poor thing to death (a la Scary Movies)?
This franchise will go as long as there are body parts that they can show on the DVD covers. Collect the whole anatomy!
Is that definitely real? It looks like some very bad fanboy art.
nasty
Well, maybe the animation of it allows it to be passed, whereas if it were photo realistic it’d be banned? I dunno….
